Erasmus+ Short-term projects for mobility of learners and staff in adult education
Aims of the project:
1. To build and augment the potential of adaptive inclusive active tourism in Malta for locals and foreigners who wish, need and deserve equal opportunities for leisure and wellbeing
We follow the philosophy that when you cater for the locals (who are always there) you automatically improve the visitor experience with better infrastructure, services and social wellbeing and place the human at its focus rather solely the economic aspect (that then took care of itself).
Based on this trend this adult training (and follow up):
– brings together decision makers, VET providers and organisations working with individuals who are wheelchair bound or who live with physical barriers to look at what is possible in places where product development in adaptive tourism is much more advanced than ours and
– imparts skills and vision in human centred product development for locals (1st) and for tourists (consequential ripple effect).
2. To impart skills and competences in technical and social product development for equal opportunities in active tourism.
VisMedNet engages with organisations who work with wheelchair bound individuals during the preparation of this training proposal.
Experience has shown that travel for such individuals is limited or almost absent and mobility is often related to pilgrim form of travel.
This means that product development in active tourism for the audience needs this training to:
– convey knowledge of procedural and logistical preparation and planning (provided there is product development on the receiving end) for the sending/facilitating organisations (and the public authorities that could/should support this process) and
– impart skills in psychological preparation and support, physical and emotional support for the beneficiaries and quality management beyond all the normal catering and mobility needs such initiatives would need.
This training is an experiential learning process placing learners at the deep end of product development by travelling with the beneficiaries received by an experienced host.
There will be one round of training organised with the partner Activhandi.
Participants will acquire:
Knowledge of
– technical and logistical planning and implementation of adaptive inclusive active tourism in rural areas,
– security, safety and assurance protocols,
– back end and bureaucratic support and requirements for the organisation of specialised tourism experience and
– product development in the sector.
Skills in
– experiential tourism product development,
– use of technologies and specialised equipment for adaptive inclusive active tourism and
– dialogue with other social players for joint effort for inclusion, social cohesion and subsidiarity for a more just society.
Competences in
– socio emotional literacy in the area of inclusion and support for persons with physical mobility challenges and the persons of care around them,
– human centred tourism product development,
– social justice and
– entrepreneurial approaches for the augmentation of services in the tourism services.
