Lifelong Learning Programme Grundtvig for Adult Education
The project involved partners from 6 countries all working within the Adult Education Sector.
The partners explored avenues for funding at national level that could help small organisations working in the culture sector, specifically those working with groups vulnerable to social exclusion such as people coming from disadvantaged areas, the elderly and others with socio economic deprived backgrounds.
They explored ways towards sustainability in actions and at organisation level including a mind map for setting out to venture into European funding.
During their exchanges the partners met stakeholders, bodies offering financial and technical support for the organisations forming the target group and successful organisations in the sector.
The partners visited and exchanged practices in Slovakia, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Turkey, Poland and Malta.
At the time VisMedNet Association was a beginning organisation and therefore it used this experience to reflect on its readiness and on how seeking external support can influence its growth.
Indeed this was a dual learning experience because while VisMedNet was studying its position with this project, it was also its first funded project. Furthermore the training and reflection was for organisations like VisMedNet was at the time ie. organisations looking at furthering and improving their sustainability.
Although the project’s main outputs were visits and exchanges the team of VisMedNet went further and developed with they called at time the “Fund Fishing Kit”.
During the visits to Turkey, Poland, the Netherlands and other countries the partners met funding institutions, met examples of good practice of small organisations that were already on their way towards sustainability or where on the way there. They shared experience about challenges, opportunities, building a volunteer base etc.
